Online Learning Parent Letter:

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I hope this letter finds you and your family well.  The eighth-grade history department at RRMS is working diligently to develop lessons that meet the New Mexico State Standards and that our students are able to complete online.  The following information will help you and your child understand expectations for my class.

  1. I will begin posting assignments on Monday, April 13th.
  2. One to two assignments per week will be graded.
  3. Most assignments will be broken down into parts. For example, our first unit, Pre-Civil War, is divided into 4 parts. Students can complete all 4 parts at one time or break them up over the week. ALL parts will be due no later than Friday.
  4. The graded assignments will be entered into PowerSchool. Students will be informed what assignments will be graded.
  5. Contact me if you want to increase your 3rd quarter grade.

- Even though some assignments will not be graded, students are expected to complete them.

Attendance will be taken by students turning in work. If no work has been submitted through Google Classroom over the course of 5 days (one week), one of the school secretaries will check in with you.

Your child will be able to contact me through Google Classroom during my virtual office hours Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:00 to 10:00. During the virtual office hours I will be actively monitoring the various Google Classroom sites. How quick of a response you get will depend on the volume of questions I receive. I am also always available at jacqueline.karnezis@rrps.net.

I am here to help. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions you or your child may have.
