Welcome to Mrs. Schuman's 6th Grade Earth Science Webpage!

Earth as seen on July 6, 2015 from a distance of one million miles by a NASA scientific camera

Unit #6 - Fossils, Age Dating, Geologic Time Scale, and Energy

Essential Question:

What can reading the rocks and fossils tell me about Earth’s history?

Students will learn how fossils are formed and how they tell us about past environments on Earth.  We will explore the difference between relative and absolute age dating.  Students will learn about the basic structure of the Geologic Time Scale and significant extinction events.  We will transition to the development of fossil fuels and understand the different between renewable and non-renewable resources.

Please click on the "calendar" link on the left to see the daily agenda in my class.  You can also click on the "Useful Links" tab to find folders.  The folders are labeled by unit and will contain all files that I have used in that unit.  If your student has lost an assignment, you should be able to find it in the unit folder.  Finally, you will find a PDF file of the textbook in this folder.
